AgapeFest
Was anyone else at AgapeFest in Greenville, IL tonight? Severe storms moved into the area complete with tornado warnings so they shut down the main stage for the night right before DC*B's turn on the stage. We hid out for a while under shelter until we found out that they were playing on the second stage inside a big barn. One of the other bands let them use their instruments for their set and from what I could tell they did as much as they could without computers and such. I couldn't tell if they had monitors.
Anyway, it was a unique experience. Everyone was packed in there and we were all able to be close to the stage. So hot in the barn that it felt good to step out into the rain afterwards. I kept wondering what the band was thinking about the whole thing. It felt a little bit like the show we went to in OK during the CM tour, as far as the proximity to the stage and the amount of people gathered in a relatively small space. As fans, we thought it was pretty cool of the band to play even though it wasn't under the best conditions. Still enjoyed ourselves.

They sure did. Actually, that's what they were playing when we walked in. We didn't find out they were there until it was almost too late. So we heard the last three songs of the set. A little disappointing, considering DC*B was the reason we went to the festival this year. But you know, no one plans for something like that, and that's the chance you take when you buy a ticket to an outdoor concert. It sure was memorable and will make for a good "hey, you remember when...?"

glad you had a good time! we had no monitors and it was crazy, but it was one of the more memorable festival experiences we've had. i think we ended up playing 35ish minutes.

Mark....were you guys just not able to snag your in-ears? Or I guess you'd have to grab the monitor board too...but no monitors is never good on any level haha....toured without one as the worship leader one summer (lots of strained talking after those services!)

Mark -
That's crazy! I figured that was the case. Bwack looked intense, like he was trying hard to hear. Considering the circumstances, everything sounded great. Did you guys do any new stuff before you got to I Saw The Light (when I walked in)? And was Steve planning to be in the mix, were it not for torrential rain, lightning, twisters, and such?

the thing about Agape, is they always do it THIS WEEKEND down there in greenville, and EVERY year it rains like crazy. A few years ago Relient K got shut down half way through their set and Matt T was pissed. Thats awesome they got to play in that barn. i have many fond memories there

we couldn't have in ears because we didn't even have time to move gear from mainstage to the barn. we grabbed guitars and some pedals and that was it. we used the band that was setting up in the barn's twin reverbs, so our tone was KILLER. haha.

No joke. Weather is always an issue. Last year it was incredibly muddy. Not very enjoyable when you are worrying about your shoes getting sucked off your feet with every step. I heard from a friend that one year it snowed during Agape weekend.
