well, i think it flat out died. we've been having lots of problems with it for a year, and then a few months ago it just went out completely. it was making this weird motor noise and was putting strange things on the screen.

I'm specing one for our church now. This is the one I prefer.
Sharp XG-P560w. I sell it for around $8500
also
Panasonic PT-DW5100u is also great. I sell it for around $5000
Both are WXGA and are in your price range.
